Men

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

1 Corinthians 16:13 (esv)

It's difficult to overstate the importance of fathers, or men in general. We’ve heard it said, “As the family goes, so goes the nation.” But it can also be said that “as the father goes, so goes the family.” It's imperative for men to understand their calling as leaders. It's imperative that men act like men. Yet, we live in a society that has seemingly never been more confused about masculinity.
How can men act like men if there is not a definitive answer concerning what it is to be a man?

The answers to manhood are not discovered in the loud clamoring voices that surround us. The answer to manhood is found in the one who made men in the first place - God. More specifically, God's Word, the Bible.

The Bible establishes several key characteristics of true manhood. A godly man aligns himself with the God's will, rejects sin, pursues righteousness, and seeks to live according to God’s law through the Spirit’s power. This involves grounding oneself in Scripture to resist temptation, maintaining a life of prayer, and demonstrating sacrificial love. According to 1 Corinthians 16:13–14, true manhood combines vigilance against spiritual danger, faithfulness to truth, courage against opposition, persistence through trials, and—fundamentally—love in all actions.

Biblical manhood is nearly impossible to do by oneself. Thankfully, God has given us his church filled with other men we can disciple and be discipled by. Christ Community Church offers several men's groups in which men can grow into what it means to "act like men."

Men's Fellowship Groups

Men's prayer/bible study

The Men’s Prayer/Bible Study is held weekly at Christ Community Church on Wednesdays at 7AM.  The meetings begin with comprehensive prayers by any or all members and continue for an hour and more of Bible study and discussion.  The Bible study goes through Scripture without a lesson book and focuses on what God is teaching for daily personal lives. Meetings recess during the summer months.

Men's Mutual Encouragement

Men's Kickoff Bible Study

Men's Kickoff Bible Study meets every first and third Saturday morning at Christ Community Church at 7AM. This group spends time wrestling through the books of the Bible one chapter at a time, finding connections to our daily lives, and growing together in Christ Jesus. Each meeting is ended with an encouraging time of prayer and fellowship together.  There are no study materials or books to buy in order to be a part of the group.
